5 Inspirational Movies and TV Shows Every Girl Boss Should Watch:
You know that excitement you get when watching something that fires you up.
WELL THIS WAS IT.
This movie definitely gets me fired up because it literally shows when Joy first discovered her dream, then realising its potential of become something, to actually turning it into a business. I admire her perseverance and fierceness in life and when it comes to building her business.
This movie was based on the true story of the Miracle Mop which is even more inspiring! Be sure to check it out!
2, Molly’s Game
OKAAAAY! So many lightbulb moments came up when I was watching this movie!
My friend Phoebe and I saw this at the cinema a while back and we just couldn’t stop talking about it afterwards. Let’s be honest, we couldn’t stop talking DURING the movie either.
We kept looking at each other and saying “Oh my gosh, that’s so smart!!”
Oh so much marketing and branding gold in this.
Even though gambling isn’t something we are interested in (or support for that matter lol), the mastermind behind how her business came about was just astounding and you can learn so much from it. Of course, stay away from the dodgy stuff!

3, The Intern
“Under promise and over deliver” was one of the biggest things I learnt from this movie.
OH MY WORD! Such a simple thing Jules (Anne Hathaway) did with her customers that made a huge difference in her business. If you want to know what I’m talking about, it’s the scene where she was talking about the product delivery with her employees.
As much as this movie was about Ben (Robert De Niro) being a senior intern in her company, it was about how Jules balances her life, family and success. It showed that not everyone can do it well and have it altogether. In saying that, I think it had a great message that “You are doing way better than you think”.
Sometimes you just need that little encouragement to keep you going. Watch this movie!
If you love fashion and want to start a business, watch this.
I absolutely loved this TV show! It was such a fun and lighthearted Netflix show to watch. I have yet read Sophia Amoruso’s book but I’ve enjoyed seeing how Nasty Gal came about.
This movie showed how Sophia started Nasty Gal with absolutely nothing then became a fashion empire! You see a glimpse of the struggles and successes in both her personal and business journey. Whether you are just starting out or trying to build something, remember that everyone has a start.
“Don’t compare your beginning to someone else’s middle, or your middle to someone else’s end.”
5, On the Basis of Sex
This movie was inspired by a true story set in the late 1950s when women had many restrictions in society because of their gender and status. It was amazing seeing how she overcame all that and fought for what she believes.
We are seriously so blessed to live in the 21st century where we can literally start something with a computer and access to the internet. We really don’t have any excuses. I highly recommend watching this movie!

6, Self Made
This Netflix show was inspired by the Life of Madam C.J. Walker and I thoroughly enjoyed this miniseries during the quarantine. You don’t want to miss this one!
The story is about an African-American woman trying to build her own empire in a time where women had very little power and voice (let alone being an African-American). This miniseries shows how Madam C.J. Walker overcame many life obstacles and broke down the barriers of race and gender to becoming America’s first self made female millionaire.
“Don’t let nobody steal your dream!”
“I didn’t come here to make sandwiches, I came here to do business.”
Grab your popcorn and enjoy!
How cool is that even in the midst of procrastination (and simply enjoyment), you can still get inspired with creative ideas and motivated to do better with your business.
